Where do we go from here?
If you’ve lost ~1 pound/week, you’re on track to achieving consistent sustainable weight loss.
As Dr. Peter Attia has said “Losing fat mass isn’t necessarily easy, but unfortunately, that struggle pales in comparison to the challenge of keeping it off.”
According to the National Institute for Health, 80% of people who lose 10% of their body weight will regain that weight within 1 year. Why? Because maintaining daily food consistency on your own is challenging (and hence why we’re all here).
Looking ahead after this month, imagine 2 future paths:
Path 1:
You end the 90 day challenge having lost something like a pound a week. You decide to stop and try to keep eating healthy on your own. You gut it out solo for a few days, maybe even a couple weeks. By a month or so in, who has the willpower to do it week after week on your own? You go up and down with a few bender weekends and by the end of the summer, most of the pounds have come back on. You rally yourself in September for a couple weeks but its football season and you throw in the towel until yet another New Years Resolution. You start on New Year’s more or less where you were on April 1st.
This is the “Premature Finisher” Path.
Path 2:
You’ve seen some results in the last several months and want to continue to progress, but you also want to have fun this summer. You stick with the group rather than going on your own. There are some good days, some not so good days. But every day is a new day and you keep showing up.
July 4th to Labor Day, we relax a little more and allow for more beers each week (12). This will keep our new weight closer to flat during that window and not gain back what we’ve lost, but not lose much either. Of course, if you’re motivated to keep the weight coming off during the summer, you can keep beating the current goals.
After Labor Day, we all go strict again, steadily building muscle and losing fat in early September until Thanksgiving. We take another holiday reprieve like the summer from Thanksgiving to New Years, and then the team hits it hard after New Years. We slowly build over this timeframe and we train to walk the Ranger 12 mile Ruck (optional) 12 months from now. Imagine the satisfaction you’ll feel if you take this path.
